One person was killed in Russian air raids on Kyiv and Odesa: Ukraine

KYIV—Russia launched air attacks on Kyiv and Odesa in southern Ukraine early Wednesday, killing one person and triggering a fire and damage at a Danube River port, according to Ukraine's military.

multiple agricultural and port facilities were destroyed, and multiple fires were recorded in the Izmail area, an important grain exporting center on the Danube, during a nearly three-hour drone strike on Odesa, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper.

“An employee of an agricultural enterprise, who was seriously injured, died in the hospital,” Mr. Kiper said.

Mr. Kiper did not mention the port's name. According to agriculture consultant APK-Inform, there was a fire at the little Kilia river port.

Ukraine controls multiple Danube river ports, as well as two large ports, Reni and Izmail, all of which have been targeted by Russian drones in the past. Kilia, which specializes in dry freight, was targeted for the first time, according to APK-Inform.

The reports could not be independently verified by Reuters. Moscow made no immediate comment.

Russia also launched missiles towards Kyiv early Wednesday, according to authorities, but Ukrainian air defense systems shot them all down.

According to officials, falling debris damaged the façade of buildings, private automobiles, and windows of a medical center and a police station. There were no injuries recorded in the capital.

At approximately 0550 a.m., witnesses in Kyiv heard multiple bangs that sounded like air defense systems being deployed, according to Reuters. (0250 GMT.)
