After drifting for three months in the Pacific Ocean, an Australian man and his dog were rescued by a Mexican tuna boat.

MANZANILLO, Mexico—An Australian sailor who had been stranded at sea with his dog for three months was rescued in international seas by a Mexican tuna boat, the fishing vessel's owner said Monday.

Timothy Lyndsay Shaddock, 54, was onboard his disabled catamaran Aloha Toa in the Pacific around 1200 miles (1900 kilometers) from land when the crew of the Grupomar fleet found them, according to the firm.

Mr. Shaddock and his dog Bella were located in a "precarious" situation, without nourishment and shelter, according to the business. According to the report, the crew of the tuna boat provided them with medical assistance, food, and hydration.

Grupomar did not specify when or on what day Mr. Shaddock was rescued or when he began his expedition.

Mr. Shaddock and Bella were anticipated to arrive in the Pacific coast port of Manzanillo on Tuesday aboard the tuna boat piloted by Oscar Meza Oregón.

Grupomar's founder and president, Antonio Suárez Gutiérrez, expressed his pride in his team, complimenting them for their compassion in saving the life of someone in need.

Mr. Shaddock told Nine News in Australia that he and his dog had survived on raw fish and rainwater after a storm wrecked his boat and destroyed its electronics.

“I’ve been through a very difficult ordeal at sea and I’m just needing rest and good food because I’ve been alone at sea a long time,” a thin and bearded Mr. Shaddock said in a video broadcast by Nine on Sunday night Australian time.

“Otherwise, I’m in very good health,” Mr. Shaddock added.

The Sydney resident and his dog set off from the Mexican city of La Paz towards French Polynesia in April, but the journey was cut short after just a few weeks, according to Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

A smiling, bearded, and slender Mr. Shaddock is pictured with a blood pressure cuff around his arm, carrying a package of pain medicine inside the fishing boat's cabin in photos released by Grupomar to the AP. Bella is spread out on the deck in others. The catamaran sailed nearby, with no apparent sail.
