Thousands protest on new years eve in China

A month after the "blank paper movement" set off nationwide protests in China, there were new uprisings in at least three Chinese cities over the New Year's vacation.

There were apparently thousands of participants.
After police detained a person for lighting off fireworks in Zhoukou city, residents of He-nan province in central China burned and turned over a police car.
Police couldn't take the citizen to a police station because the irate throng had encircled the car.
A few demonstrators broke the car's windshield and glass, while others got on the top and danced. In the end, they reversed it, and at least two persons were immediately taken into custody.

Since the lifting of the COVID 19 lockdowns, certain localities in China's communist-run country have relaxed restrictions on the usage of fireworks, allowing their residents to properly enjoy the first new year. A protester is heard screaming, quote, "people of Xu-chang city, let's fight," in another video clip that has been posted online, even though other localities have continued to enforce the prohibition. On the eve of the new year, despite the presence of police, over a thousand people gathered in the streets of another city in the province of Henan to celebrate with fireworks.

In the Shandong Province in northern China, one vehicle let off fireworks while being followed by a police vehicle, while a police officer stopped a second vehicle, but the driver kept lighting off fireworks. In another video, city employees can be seen deploying fire extinguishers to prevent residents from launching fireworks. A swarm of what looked to be hundreds of people overran the police barricade over Nanjing City and gathered around the monument of Sun Yat Sen. Sen is regarded as the father of the country in Taiwan and the architect of the Chinese Revolution for his role in toppling China's last emperor, he was a supporter of democracy overseas. On January 1, hundreds of people who had been scammed by credit cards gathered on a highway in the province of Henan to raise awareness of the problem and demand their money returned.
