MEXICO CITY—On Friday evening, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake rocked Mexico's southern state of Oaxaca, according to Mexican officials and the USGS.

The earthquake struck near the village of San Miguel Achiutla at a depth of 40 miles, according to the USGS.
