The death toll from the Brazil bridge collapse has risen to nine, with another eight people still missing.

SAO PAULO—A woman's corpse was discovered after a bridge connecting two northern states in Brazil collapsed, increasing the death toll to nine.

On Friday, Brazil's navy said that the corpse was discovered 3.7 kilometers from the Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira Bridge. Another eight persons are still unaccounted for.

Several automobiles and trucks fell into the Tocantins River as a portion of the bridge collapsed on Sunday.

Police on the border between the northern states of Maranhao and Tocantins reported that four trucks, two automobiles, and two motorbikes entered the river.

The 1,748-foot bridge between Estreito and Aguiarnopolis was erected in the 1960s. It is approximately 800 kilometers north of the capital, Brasilia.
