A fire in a children's shelter in Brazil kills at least 4 people and injured 13 more.

According to the local fire service, at least four people perished and 13 were injured in a fire at a refuge for children and adolescents in Northeastern Brazil on Friday.

At about 4:20 a.m., firefighters were summoned to the Lar Paulo de Tarso charitable facility in Recife, the state capital of Pernambuco.

According to the fireman, a kid and a lady died at the scene of the fire, while the other two victims perished on the way to the hospital.

Recife Mayor Joao Campos expressed his sympathy on social media.

Raquel Lyra, the governor of Pernambuco, also turned to Twitter to express her condolences.

“Pernambuco is in mourning with what happened this early morning in Recife … Firefighters and police are already working, as well as our health teams. I leave here my condolences to the families of the victims in this moment of pain,” Lyra said.
