4 US Soldiers Wounded, ISIS Leader Killed in Syria

The White House reported Friday that four US soldiers were injured as a result of a helicopter strike in Syria that killed a top leader of the ISIS terrorist group.

According to National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby, four troops and one of the working dogs were injured during the operation late Thursday.

"The troops and the working dog are doing well. "They are being treated in a US medical facility in Iraq," he explained.

ISIS senior leader Hamza al-Homsi, who was in charge of an ISIS network in eastern Syria, was killed in a "explosion on target" in the raid carried out by the US military and the Syrian Democratic Forces, according to US Central Command.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is an organization led by Kurdish forces that has been fighting ISIS in Syria's north for years.

In recent years, the US military has assassinated two ISIS commanders in Syria.

Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi committed suicide during a US operation in northwest Syria in October 2022. He took over as ISIS commander on October 31, 2019, few days after ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was tracked down by US troops during a raid.

Following al-death, Qurayshi's ISIS appointed a new top commander, Abu al-Husain al-Husaini al-Quraishi, on November 30, 2022.
