In Crimea, 8 people died in construction site fire

According to Russian officials, at least eight people perished in the Crimean city of Sevastopol following an overnight fire in construction workers' temporary housing.

The fire broke out at a dormitory for workers building the Tavrida highway, a new route joining the towns of Sevastopol and Simferopol, according to Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, home to the Russian navy's Black Sea Fleet.

According to Russia's emergency ministry, eight people were killed and two were injured.

According to local law enforcement, the fire was caused by an electrical appliance short-circuiting, according to the state-run TASS news agency.
