Russia Seizes Two Settlements in Ukraine, According to the Defense Ministry

MOSCOW—The defense ministry announced on Monday that Russian soldiers had taken control of two settlements in Ukraine.

The localities were Netailove in Donetsk and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv area.

In a report released late on Sunday, the General Staff of the Ukrainian military stated that its forces had repulsed an offensive in the vicinity of Ivanivka, which is east of Kupiansk.

The General Staff stated in a report released on Monday night that Ukrainian forces had stopped seven Russian advances in the Kupiansk area.

In one region of the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces had reported "partial success," it said, and Ukrainian forces were "taking measures to stabilize the situation and prevent the enemy from advancing."
