In Poland, a plane crashes into a hangar, the pilot and four others are killed, while eight more are injured.

WARSAW, Poland—Five people were killed and eight others were injured after a Cessna 208 plane crashed into a hangar at a skydiving center amid terrible weather on Monday, according to officials.

The plane's pilot and four persons who were hiding in the hangar from the storm died in the afternoon disaster in Chrcynno, central Poland, according to firemen spokesperson Monika Nowakowska-Brynda.

According to authorities, eight more persons were hurt, two of them critically. According to the provincial governor, Sylwester Dabrowski, a kid was among the injured.

Chrcynno is located around 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest of Warsaw.

Firefighters and air ambulances transported the injured to hospitals in Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki.

According to Katarzyna Urbanowska, another spokesman for local firemen, rescuers were still searching the hangar for further victims.

The reason for the collision was being investigated by prosecutors and police.

It was the deadliest skydiving tragedy in Poland since 2014, when 11 people were killed in a small plane crash in Topolow, in the southern city of Czestochowa.
