Russia's Lavrov Calls the Kremlin Drone Incident a 'hostile act'

On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the drone incident at the Kremlin on Wednesday was a "hostile act" to which Russia will respond with "concrete actions."

Russia has accused Ukraine of launching drones towards the Kremlin in an effort to assassinate President Vladimir Putin, and has claimed that the US was behind the alleged attack. Ukraine has disputed this, and the White House has called Russian claims "lies."

“It was clearly a hostile act, it is clear that the Kyiv terrorists could not have committed it without the knowledge of their masters,” Lavrov told a press conference in India.

“We will not respond by talking about ‘casus belli’ or not, we will respond with concrete actions,” he said.

A "casus belli" is a Latin phrase meaning an action that justifies war. Russia's war in Ukraine is in its 15th month, yet Moscow still refers to it as a "special military operation."
